Bob Steiner started potting when he was 14 years old. His work is bold and he enjoys exploring the characteristics of clay and experimenting with glazes using wood ash and clay materials.
Koru Wall Plaque. The koru is a spiral shape based on the shape of a new unfurling silver fern frond and symbolizing new life, growth, strength and peace.
The silver fern is used as New Zealand's national emblem, the outstanding silver fern ponga is easily recognised by the silvery-white undersides of the lamina and bases of the stripes.
Bob has made a left and right facing fern plaque which together with the Koru frond form a stricking triptich which many expat Kiwis are fond of and they say it is like owning a piece of New Zealand.
